Delta parathormone value as an indicator of postoperative hypocalcemia in patients with parathyroid adenoma

چکیده
Aim: In primary hyperparathyroidism patients, avoiding hypoparathyroidism and hypocalcemia after surgery is essential. We aimed to evaluate if the delta parathormone percent value (ΔPTH%) can identify patients with an increased risk of developing parathyroid for hyperparathyroidism.
Material methods: Eighty adenomas who underwent single parathyroidectomy were analyzed, demographical data, preoperative, postoperative laboratory data collected included in study. Postoperative was defined as a corrected calcium below 8.5 mg/dL calculated from blood values taken on first day. The ΔPTH by finding difference between preoperative PTH value, percentage dividing (ΔPTH = Preoperative – PTH, ΔPTH% / PTH).<br Results: developed 7.5% patients. Hypocalcemic had higher values. selection 130.95 ng/L level cutoff divided without 83.3% sensitivity 62.2% specificity. As ΔPTH%, cut-off 71.4% 100.0% sensitivity, 56.8% specificity, 16-fold increase odds hypocalcemia.<br Conclusion: are helpful predictors be used guiding tool.

The predictive value of routine preoperative laboratory parameters in patients with sporadic and solitary parathyroid adenoma.
OBJECTIVE Primary hyperparathyroidism (pHPT) is a disease in which the diagnosis depends increasingly on laboratory tests since the majority of patients are elderly people without typical symptoms. The aim of this study was to calculate the specificity and sensitivity rates, and positive predictive value of blood Ca, P, ALP, and iPTH levels in patients with PA. MATERIALS AND METHODS We calcul...
متن کاملIncremental diagnostic value of preoperative 99mTc-MIBI SPECT in patients with a parathyroid adenoma.
UNLABELLED The purpose of this prospective study was to evaluate the diagnostic value of early parathyroid SPECT combined with quantitative analysis as compared with planar imaging in patients undergoing minimally invasive radioguided surgery. METHODS A total of 52 consecutive patients with primary hyperparathyroidism underwent planar and SPECT parathyroid scintigraphy 2-5 d before surgery. E...

Localization of ectopic parathyroid adenoma with Tc-99m-MIBI [Persian]
Ectopic paratliyroid adenoma might create a clinical dilemma in patients with hypercalcemia. Radioisotopic scan is a sensitive and noninvasive method which can be useful in these patients. In this report a case of ectopic parathyroid adenoma is presented and the usefulness of TC-99m-MIBI scintigraphy as compared with other modalities is discussed.
